QUESTIONS
FOR OUR NEIGHBORS
Summary: This activity is designed to encourage
students to spend some time in the Virtual Neighborhood looking
at what has been entered, and considering what more they want
to develop and to learn. It can be done any time.
Materials:
Access to Internet; bookmark set
at Linking Up Villages
http://villagenetwork.org/luv.html
Classroom Management:
This is an ideal activity
for individual students, or teams of students who have some time
to augment the school pages. It also could be a full class activity.
Activity Steps:
1. Visit the site of each school
in the neighborhood, beginning with your own "building".
2. What more do students think
should be on your class site? Any new type of buildings? (Reminder:
there are "rooms" for links, images, databases, documents)
Review the possible rooms.
Review the HELP
pages on how to set up specialized rooms.
Ask them to plan how they can organize
to gather the information and images.
3. What more would they like to
know about the other schools? What kind of answers would be helpful.
Write out some examples.
4. Send messages to the school
with the questions.
Extension: Get together with one the of Neighbor Schools
and decide on a question to ask a third school.
